How did an ordinary little girl come to live such an extraordinary life? This picture book biography tells the incredible story of Anne Frank for a younger audience.
Anne Frank’s diary telling the story of her years in hiding from the Nazis has affected millions of people. But what was she like as a small girl, at home with her family and friends; at play and at school? In the first half of the book we meet Anne as a small child growing up with her family in Germany. Then we follow her flight to Holland to escape the Nazis; the German invasion and the gradual isolation, then outright persecution, of the Jewish population which forces the family into hiding; the years in the Secret Annex; and her last heart-breaking journey.
Told with haunting, meticulously researched illustrations, this is the ideal introduction to Anne Frank’s story.

soddisfatta
esattamente quello che mi aspettavo, illustrazioni poetiche. Il mio errore è stato solo sottovalutare la lingua (davo per scontato, per la fretta, fosse in italiano. In ogni caso è facilmente traducibile

é scritto in inglese
Anche io non avevo capito fosse scritto in inglese. Non si trova scritto in Italiano? So che esiste, una mia collega ce l’ha, identico a questo, ma con copertina flessibile

I am making a point to buy books for my girls about strong women. This book is age appropriate for younger children, without sugar coating things. I feel like this book is a great way to introduce some of the darker history lessons, an open up a honest line of communication without scaring a child. I plan on keeping this book for years to come

I bought a class set of these for use with my P7 class. I have used it several times, and have found it to be a useful introduction to the topic of the Holocaust. This is what some P7 pupils had to say:”At first we thought that this book was going to be a bit babyish, but we soon realised that it had lots of information about Anne Frank’s life and how she lived it. The illustrations were very detailed and realistic, and we were able to have lots of discussions. The cover made us wonder what the yellow stars were for and what the writing meant. It inspired us to read Anne’s diary, and was a great introduction to its background. We used the information in the book (along with other sources) to create a timeline of Anne’s life, and were also inspired to create our own works of art and pieces of writing. We would recommend this to P5 -P7 pupils and think adults might like it too.

Wonderful picture book. My kids r very sensitive to scary subjects. This book is honest about Anne’s life without going into the horrid details of the Holocaust . It is factual without being scary. Well written and beautiful illustrations.

I purchased this book to add to my collection of children’s books for my primary education degree. The book itself is children-friendly but it is more suitable for KS2 children (due to the nature of the story). The illustrations in the book are absolutely stunning and compliment the story beautifully.I am sure I will be using this whilst doing my teaching placements in KS2 as well as my future classroom. I would definitely recommend this for other trainee teachers as well as upper KS2 teachers.
