The writings that underpinned the Chinese revolution, introduced by Slavoj iek
These early philosophical writings underpinned the Chinese revolutions, and Mao&;s clarion call to insurrection has lost none of its ability to stir the blood and stimulate the mind. Drawing on a dizzying array of references from contemporary culture and politics, Slavoj iek&;s introduction reaches unsettling conclusions about the place of Mao&;s thought in the revolutionary canon.

James Kalomiris, The Peripatetic Reader –
Quite honestly, this is not the best collection of Maoâs writings. Better collections are available, but this volume does contain his essential works.Versoâs release of Maoâs writings is noteworthy in having an introduction by Slavoj Zizek. He characteristically writes about topics all over the place, but he does make important points. The approach taken by Mao on contradiction and how to resolve contradiction differed considerably from Stalin, Lenin, or even Marx. Zizekâs introduction touches on these distinctions and clarifies where they existed. The writings you can find anywhere. Zizekâs Introduction alone is worth a read.
Johnathan Meadows –
It’s a nice collection of some of Mao’s works and really shows off how just how much he talked while at the same time saying absolutely nothing.
