2012 Audie Award Finalist for Audiobook of the Year

Walter Isaacson’s “enthralling” (The New Yorker) worldwide bestselling biography of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs—the inspiration for the movie Steve Jobs starring Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet, Seth Rogen, and Jeff Daniels, directed by Danny Boyle with a screenplay by Aaron Sorkin.

Based on more than forty interviews with Steve Jobs conducted over two years—as well as interviews with more than 100 family members, friends, adversaries, competitors, and colleagues—Walter Isaacson has written a riveting story of the roller-coaster life and searingly intense personality of a creative entrepreneur whose passion for perfection and ferocious drive revolutionized six industries: personal computers, animated movies, music, phones, tablet computing, and digital publishing. Isaacson’s portrait touched millions of readers.

At a time when America is seeking ways to sustain its innovative edge, Jobs stands as the ultimate icon of inventiveness and applied imagination. He knew that the best way to create value in the twenty-first century was to connect creativity with technology. He built a company where leaps of the imagination were combined with remarkable feats of engineering.

Although Jobs cooperated with the author, he asked for no control over what was written. He put nothing off-limits. He encouraged the people he knew to speak honestly. He himself spoke candidly about the people he worked with and competed against.

His friends, foes, and colleagues offer an unvarnished view of the passions, perfectionism, obsessions, artistry, devilry, and compulsion for control that shaped his approach to business and the innovative products that resulted.

His tale is instructive and cautionary, filled with lessons about innovation, character, leadership, and values.

i like the quality of pages

Real insight into Silicon Valley and how the whole graphical user interface came about. It also seems a very honest and accurate account of the great man.

I do not write many reviews (Shame on me.) But I enjoyed this book so much. I think Walter Isaacson is one of the best for a project like this. I feel like nothing was left out and there was nothing put in I did not want to read. Isaacson said there he put things in that Jobs would not want to read, but he was not hard on Jobs. He made the worst of Jobs shine actually. The worst of Jobs is what defined him to seek greatness. We all know Jobs could be an A**Hole. But it came mostly from passion. And I think we are all happier for it. Job’s Black/White outlook on things was almost comical when reading. He would stomp his feet and make the ideas he did not like sound stupid and he would not stop arguing with you until you saw it his way or just gave up. Either was good for him, because he always felt right. And he was most of the time, and the biggest oen to be wrong on, was his health and I though this part of the book was the best written part. Every time Steve was quoted, I channeled in his voice and it just made me smile. I was left feeling more connected to Steve than before reading. And that is what I looked for. – This was a “Job” well done.

Well the first review that I had written few weeks ago was awful because I wasn’t really impressed by the paperback quality since I am only used to to reading hardcover books. But when I started reading to this book through I really enjoyed glancing closely through the life of one of the greatest genius ever born. I really enjoyed glancing at the photos of Diana Walker’s portfolios.I am really sorry for the first review that I wrote few weeks earlier and I would like to thank you utmostly for delivering such a great value to us.
